The Transit Ion Pack
The Transit-Ion Pack is a microprocessor controlled power storage and management system designed to improve fuel efficiency while extending battery life. The pack offers up to a 3-6 years increase in life span over the best lead acid batteries in addition to a recently developed fuel saving power management mechanism. The fuel saving feature has been shown to produce gains in excess of 15%.
The Transit-Ion Pack is designed to fit the battery tray on most buses. The footprint of the enclosure is similar to 4 group 31 batteries with the normal 3 connections (+24v, GND and optional +12v). The batteries and control electronics are enclosed. In addition the internal components are further protected, for example the non serviceable electronics are all fully sealed to withstand the harsh environments transit buses are exposed to.
